Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you wanted to know about Deepwrk and body doubling.
The basics
What is Deepwrk?
Deepwrk is a body doubling platform built for people with ADHD. You join small, facilitated virtual coworking sessions: share what you're working on, work on your own tasks in focused silence, and check in at the end. Between sessions there's an always-on home workspace with a community chat, a personal timer, focus music, and your task list. Milestones, streaks, and badges make showing up rewarding.
What is body doubling?
Body doubling is a productivity strategy: you do your own task in the presence of another person (or people). It's a long-standing technique in the ADHD community for getting started, staying with a task, and finishing it.
If you've ever worked well from a café, a library, or a coworking space, you've experienced it — nobody there talks to you or checks your work, but their quiet presence makes it easier to focus. Deepwrk brings that same anchor to wherever you work.
Is Deepwrk only for adults with ADHD?
No. Deepwrk is designed and built for the neurodivergent community, but anyone who wants an extra dose of focus is welcome. You don't need a formal ADHD diagnosis to join.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes — you must be 16 or older to use Deepwrk.
Is it introvert friendly?
Totally. Sessions follow a predefined agenda with no small talk. Talking is brief — around 20–30 seconds at the beginning and end of a session — and you can skip the verbal check-in entirely by sharing your goals in the chat instead. Friendly faces are encouraged; socialising is never expected.
Sessions
How do sessions work?
You join a small group with a host. At the start, everyone briefly shares their goals — out loud or in the chat. Then it's focused, silent work on your own tasks, and a short check-in on progress at the end. Longer sessions can include breaks, and the exact rhythm varies by session length and how the host sets it up. Quiet sessions skip the verbal parts entirely.
What can I work on?
Anything. Deep, creative work that needs concentration — writing, design, business tasks, studying — and just as much the tasks we put off for weeks: decluttering, admin, meal prep, planning your day, or that one annoying chore. If it matters to you, it belongs in a session.
How much do I need to talk?
Not at all, unless you want to. Goal-sharing and the end-of-session debrief take about 20–30 seconds each, and you can always do both in the chat instead of on the microphone. The rest of the time is focused, silent work.
Do I have to keep my camera on?
Cameras are optional for participants — you can always share your goals in the chat instead. That said, your camera sets the tone for the room and helps you and everyone else focus: body doubling works best when we show up for each other. Hosts are encouraged to stay visible, especially at the start and end of a session.
Deepwrk has zero tolerance for inappropriate conduct on camera or anywhere else on the platform.
What if I'm late?
Join anyway — you're welcome anytime. Slip in silently and share your tasks in the chat so you don't interrupt anyone's focus. If you're hosting, try to arrive a few minutes early to set up and greet people.
There's no session when I need one — what can I do?
Three options:
- Create your own session. Any member can host — pick a time, and others can book in and join you.
- Start a Flash Session. Match with other members who are online right now for an instant session. Available to full members with 20+ completed sessions.
- Use the home workspace. It's always on: community chat, your task list, a personal focus timer, and focus music — no video, no schedule.
How do I make the most of a session?
- Grab your favourite beverage
- Take 1–2 minutes to write down your tasks
- Break them into small, actionable items
- Join a minute early to settle into your space
- Get rid of distractions: phone, notifications, open tabs
- Share your tasks with the group — chat or microphone
- Keep your camera on for the extra boost of focus
Streaks & rewards
How do streaks work?
Your streak counts consecutive active days. Weekdays are the commitment: missing any Mon–Fri day resets your streak. Weekends are a bonus — missing them never breaks your streak, and showing up on a Saturday or Sunday still adds a day. Days are counted in your own timezone.
What are badges and XP?
You earn XP and badges for showing up: completing sessions, building streaks, finishing tasks, hosting, and more. Your collection lives in the Trophy Room, where you can feature a favourite badge.
Account & billing
How much does Deepwrk cost?
Every new account gets a 7-day free trial — no credit card, and the clock only starts when you choose to activate it. After that, see the pricing page for current plans. You can cancel anytime.
How do I cancel?
From your avatar menu, open Billing and cancel there. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Can I get a grant to pay for Deepwrk?
Possibly — if you live in the UK and have ADHD (or another accepted disability), the government's Access to Work scheme can fund workplace support, including tools like Deepwrk. You may be eligible if you're 16+, living in the UK, and employed, self-employed, or looking for work.
Apply and check current funding levels at gov.uk/access-to-work, or read our Access to Work guide.
We also support members who could benefit from financial assistance, case by case — reach out at hello@deepwrk.io.
